Obama Needs to Hire Miss Manners

Another opportunity for Barack Obama –
Another opportunity squandered.

At the State of the Union Address on Monday night, Obama had the chance to be gracious to Hillary Clinton.  Instead, he snubbed her with a scowl.  Like a petulant, grudge-bearing youngster, Obama turned his back on Hillary rather than reach out for the perfunctory handshake.  Hillary, on the other hand, was reaching to shake Edward Kennedy’s hand with a smile – even though she probably would have preferred a dagger.  You have to do that in politics.

Yep.

It’s going to be the midweek talk around Washington, you better believe it.

Here are some photo shots.

The first shows Obama turning away.

The second shows Kennedy telling  Obama to get real.

Now you can argue that it was just chance that Obama turned away all you want.
But, everybody knew that both Clinton and Obama would be at the State of the Union.
Everybody knew that they would be seated close to each other.
Obama CHOSE his reaction.

I don’t know about you, but I would like a future president to show a little more grace and courtesy, especially when the other person is down.  Here Obama has had his biggest primary victory and a spate of crucial endorsements – and he still cannot find it within himself to act as a gentleman.  All the words in a book do little to counteract such actions.
